MINISTRY OF EARTH SCIENCES : RECRUITMENT OF SCIENTISTS,SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW AT CHENNAI MARCH 2011.

Applications are invited for filling up following temporary project positions purely in project mode in the ICMAM Project Directorate, Chennai, an attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) initially for a period of one year extendable further based on performance as per details given below:

1.Project Scientists-I
Pay Scale: Rs.36,000/-p.m
Qualification:
First Class Master's Degree in Oceanography with  Physical Oceanography or First Class B.E/B.Tech in Engineering/Technology with subjects relevant to Coastal Engineering, and 2 years of research experience in field data collection, analysis and numerical modeling of oceanographic parameters.

2.Senior Research Fellow
Pay Scale: Rs.14,000/-p.m
Qualification:
First class M.Sc., in Science subjects relating to  Physical Oceanography / Marine Science with two years of experience in the subject evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

3.Project Scientist-II
Pay Scale: Rs.38,000/- p.m
Qualification:
Ph D in Science relating to Marine environment/toxicology/biochemistry or First Class  M.Sc in science with 3 years of experience or M.Phil in Science with 2 years of experience in marine eco-toxicology by way of conduct of bioassay studies, enzyme assay techniques and analysis of heavy metals, pesticides and Poly Aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

4.Project Scientist-I
Pay Scale: Rs.36,000/-p.m
Qualification:
First Class Master's Degree in Marine Sciences /Oceanography with Chemical Oceanography /Environmental Sciences/Environmental Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry with 2 years minimum experience in research relating to nutrients, trace metals and organic chemicals in the marine, estuarine and coastal environment, as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

NOTE :

1. The appointment / extension of service of the project positions will be coterminus
with the duration of the project i.e. up to March 2012 whichever is
earlier.
2. The Place of posting will be Chennai or at any other location in India
3. A panel of candidates will be maintained for any vacancies that may arise in
future.
4. Number of years of experience will be counted after the year of award of
qualifying degree
5. Candidates serving in Central / State Governments / Public Sector Undertaking /
Autonomous bodies etc. shall apply through proper channel. If candidates apply
directly their selection will be subject to clearance from their departments.
6. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Selection Committee to interview all those candidates, the Committee may restrict the number of candidates for interview to reasonable limit through a trade test. Incomplete applications or applications received after prescribed time limit shall not be entertained.
7. No Traveling Allowance will be admissible for attending the interview.
